You can apply for your provisional licence online when you are 15 years and 9 months old.
How do I get my Provisional Driving Licence?

You can get more information about the provisional licence application process and apply online here.

I teach in a Manual Car ONLY!
What car do you use for Driving Lessons?
My Driving Tuition Vehicle Is a Peugeot 208
It is smart, regularly maintained to the highest standards and selected to provide an excellent learning experience.
What areas in Guildford do you teach in?
GU1 = Bellfields, Burpham, Bushy, Guildford Town, Merrow, Slyfield, Stoughton, Stoke Park.
GU2 = Guildford Park, Onslow Village, Park Barn, Stoughton, The Mount, The Oval, Woodbridge Hill.
GU3 = Compton, Fairlands, Fox Corner, Normandy, Puttenham, Wanborough, Wood Street Village, Worplesdon.
GU4 = Blackheath, Burpham, Chilworth, East Clandon, Jacobs Well, Merrow Common, Sutton Green, West Clandon.
I am just outside of the area that you cover. Will you teach me?
I am sorry but the areas (GU1, GU2, GU3, GU4) that I have listed above are the only areas I cover for training.
I have to be fair to all my pupils and work my diary around everyone. Having a pupil outside my area will have a knock-on effect.
But I can meet any pupil at the train or bus station if you don’t live in my areas covered but still want me to teach you to drive.
Do I need to do Driving Lessons?
There are no legal requirements to take Driving Lessons prior to sitting a Driving Test to gain a full licence.
However, to meet the high standard required to pass a Practical Driving Test it is highly recommended that you take professional tuition from a Driving Instructor.
Do you offer Driving Lessons at the Weekend?
YES – I use Saturdays as a backup to make sure all my weekday pupils have Driving Lessons if they can’t make the weekday.
Are you available for Driving Lessons in the Evenings?
YES – I do work some evenings but after work or college is a very popular time to learn so spaces are very rare.
I work different shifts. Will you be able to fit me in every week?
In all honesty, it is unlikely that I will be able to fit you in every week if your days off clash with other pupils.
I have to be fair to all my pupils and not just one. So having set teaching blocks makes it fair for everyone each week.
What are your set week teaching blocks?
Day Times – Monday to Friday
(8am to 10am), (10.10am to 12.10pm), (12.20pm to 2.20pm)
Evenings – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
(5.30pm to 7.30pm) But these teaching blocks are booked in advance for the next 9 months.
Weekends – Saturdays
(8am to 10am) Is a backup for my weekday pupils. Not used for new pupils only existing pupils sorry.
How many Driving Lessons a week should I take?
This is purely down to individual choice and financial circumstances. But I recommend 2 Hours per week.
How long are the Driving Lessons?
Usually, my Driving Lessons are 2 hours long, as this way you are more likely to make quicker progress by putting your experiences into practice and therefore passing your Practical Driving Test in very little time, saving you a lot of time and money.
What do I need to bring to my first driving lesson?
You will need to bring your UK provisional driving licence because without this we cannot legally proceed.
You will need to bring glasses or contacts if you were them as you will need to pass an eyesight test on a car number plate.
Do I have to be picked up and dropped off at the same location?
Not at all. You can change the pick-up and drop-off location in Guilford as long as I know at the start of the Driving Lessons.
Will there be anyone else in the car?
Definitely NOT 100% of your Training is provided on a one-to-one basis.
Do you keep a record of my progress in each Driving Lesson?
YES – Every 5 Driving Lessons (10 Hours) we will do an assessment to record your progress.
What happens in each Driving Lesson?
At the start of each Driving Lesson, we will be teaching you the skills, knowledge, and understanding they need to be safe and responsible according to the DVSA Syllabus. At the end of each Driving Lesson, we will recap what you learnt and set an objective of what you will learn during the next Driving Lesson as this will help you maintain steady progress.

YES
Eco-Driving, defined as ecologically & environmentally sensitive driving, is a core principle on which all Driving Lessons are based.
How many Driving Lessons will I need before taking my Driving Test?
The number of Driving Lessons needed differs from person to person.
On average, those who pass their Driving Tests have had around 45 hours of professional training.
I am the best person to advise on whether you are ready to take a Practical Driving Test and Lessons are an investment.
Do you offer any Discounts for Block Bookings of Driving Lessons?
Yes, I offer the Full Course Discount of £135.00 please read the Prices Page for the current GDI Driving Lesson Prices.

Yes! you can have a refund at any time. If you pass and still have Driving Lesson paid for you will be refunded.
I am not a pupil of yours. Will you let me take my test in your car?
No Sorry
My professional duty of care extends to the DVSA and the Driving Test Examiners. I cannot in all good faith take a pupil for a Driving Test that I have not spent enough time with to see that they can consistently demonstrate the required standard.
Which Driving Test Centres do you use?
Because all of my work falls within easy reach of the Guildford Driving Test Centre it is the only test centre that I use.

How long do you have to wait to retake your Driving Test if you fail?
You can book another Driving Test straight away, but you will need to choose a date at least 10 working days after you fail.
