Guildford Driving Instructor Terms & Conditions

By booking Driving Lessons with me Darren @ Guildford Driving Instructor you are agreeing to my terms.

Please Note* I Only teach 1-hour & 2-hour Driving Lessons and all Driving Tests are @ Guildford Test Center ONLY

I GUARANTEE

I guarantee that I am a legally authorised DVSA Approved Driving Instructor.

I have been CRB and DBS checked by the DVSA and re-checked every 4 years.

My official authorising documents will be displayed on the windscreen of the car and may be inspected freely at any time.

INSURANCE

My car is fully insured for all training including driving lessons and driving tests.

My car driving instructor insurance certificate is available for inspection at any time.

LEGAL LIABILITY

Pupils should be aware that my primary objective is to promote road safety and in doing so I will have to issue instructions which you must be prepared to carry out without undue argument. A continued failure on the pupil’s part to comply with such reasonable instruction will be deemed as a breach of responsibility of the pupil, and the driving lesson may be immediately terminated. In the interests of safety, future driving lessons may be cancelled for this same reason.

The pupil can be held responsible for any damage to my vehicle which may occur from ignoring any instructions.

I will make every effort to train you to the highest standard and to be safe on the roads with my help. But can in no way be held liable for any errors you commit whilst driving and unaccompanied by me either with another person in your car, during your driving lessons or after you pass your test.

DRIVING LICENCE

Pupils must personally ensure that they hold a valid signed current driving licence, which must be in their current address and needs to be produced at the first lesson and may be subject to occasional checks by me. Pupils must inform me if they receive any endorsements on their driving licence during the time they are receiving training. Pupils must ensure that the correct details are shown on their licence, such as current name and address etc. Pupils must inform me of any disabilities they have which might affect their ability to drive.

If in any doubt, please speak to me before starting if you have any questions.

PUPIL WELLBEING

In the interest of comfort, health and safety, all pupils are advised to wear suitable footwear and comfortable clothing that does not restrict any movement, please ask me for any advice you may require. The training vehicle is kept at a comfortable temperature, and you should not need to wear any coats whilst driving. Glasses or contact lenses have to be worn at all times.

TUITION FEES

Payment for all driving lessons should be made by cash on the day or bank payment on the Friday before the next week’s driving lesson. A driving lesson is defined as lasting 60 or 120 minutes. All accounts must be cleared before proceeding on a mock driving test. Ready for the driving test.

APPOINTMENT CARD

I will issue an appointment card on the first lesson; I will keep the appointment card with me during all your lessons to enable an accurate record of training and to assist with the planning of future lessons. This card will be updated to show all appointments and all debits from your prepayments.

PUNCTUALITY

In their own interests, pupils are advised to be punctual for their lesson appointments. All such appointments should be recorded in their driving record card to ensure that mistakes are avoided. I will normally wait for a maximum of 10 minutes before the lesson would be abandoned and the lesson fee is forfeited or become due for payment. A reciprocal waiting time may become necessary if I am delayed due to unforeseen circumstances.

Any lesson time lost as a result of this would be made up by me either at the end of the normal lesson time if possible or at a later date. Any such shortfall should be recorded.

POSTPONEMENT OR CANCELLATION OF A LESSON BY ME

Any and all pupils driving tests must take priority over all pupils driving lessons, therefore if I book a driving lesson with you sometimes it might have to be moved, cancelled or postponed if I receive notice from another pupil about a change of date or a short notice cancellation driving test. (Except provided for in a) above, I will where possible give notice of rearrangement or postponement of a driving lesson within the same time limit as I impose upon a pupil postponing or cancelling a driving lesson 48 hours’ notice.

But this only happens when pupils don’t follow my advice and give me very short notice.

If by reason of a vehicle failure or other emergency, a lesson has been postponed at short notice, an alternative appointment shall be made with mutual consent. Should the postponement be a driving test, I shall be responsible to the pupil for the fee of the next test if it cannot be cancelled within the required time, regardless of the pupil’s continuation of driving lessons with me. Pupils should appreciate that it may not always be possible to notify cancellation in the unlikely event of a breakdown or accident occurring on the way to pupils driving lessons.

POSTPONEMENTS OR CANCELLATION OF LESSONS BY PUPILS

At least 48 hours’ notice of postponement or cancellation of any driving lesson is required. Late driving lesson cancellations will be charged at your normal price per hour that was booked as specified in the introductory driving lessons. Such notice to me (in text or by telephone) shall be deemed to have been served on the day that the communication is received at the premises, where it will be timed and recorded.

Telephone answer machine messages and text messages, and also email messages are equally acceptable methods by which to cancel or postpone driving lessons.

POSTPONEMENTS OR CANCELLATION OF A TEST

The attention of pupils is drawn to the fact that a statutory period of notice is required under government regulations for the cancellation or postponement of a test. This is currently five clear working days before your driving test date. If possible the pupil will be advised in good time of the advisability of cancelling a test. I cannot be responsible for the loss of the test fee if the pupil fails to immediately notify the test booking office. The URL Link is given in the test appointment email.

I cannot be held responsible for any postponement or cancellation of a driving test by the testing authority at whatever notice.

COMPLAINTS

If you are unhappy with any aspect of your training you should notify me straight away.

Every effort will be made by me to satisfactorily deal with the complaint.

These terms for approved driving instructors form the basis for negotiations.

Should any dispute be unresolved mutually then you the pupil have the right to refer the matter to the DVSA
